Golden State is in its second WNBA season, not its first, and enters this matchup at 2-1 after opening the year with a 91-80 road win over Seattle. The Valkyries have leaned on defense early, allowing 76.0 points per game, the best mark in the league through their first three games, while head coach Natalie Nakase’s group continues to build on the foundation from last year’s debut season. Thursday is the first game of a back-to-back road set for Golden State and a chance to test that defense against one of the league’s most talented rosters.

New York enters at 3-1 and returns to Barclays Center after a 100-82 win over Portland, with the Liberty leading the WNBA in scoring at 100.0 points per game and shooting 37.9% from three-point range. Breanna Stewart has helped carry the offense while the Liberty wait on key pieces, with Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally both listed as game-time decisions for Thursday. That makes this a clean strength-on-strength matchup: Golden State’s league-best early defense against a Liberty offense that has been one of the WNBA’s most explosive units.

This is a great WNBA matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
