And sure, he does his best to suck out the venom, offering compliments and reminders that comparison is the thief of joy. He means it every time, and you\u2019re always grateful, because maybe affirmations are like apples; one a day keeps the doctor away, something like that.<\/p>\n<p>While self-doubt and jealousy are well-established themes across Rodrigo\u2019s catalog, here she seems to finally internalize a bitter truth: Love isn\u2019t a quick fix. Some problems are your own to solve. But it\u2019s exhausting to lay awake at night, batting down bad thoughts. \u201cI\u2019m unraveled,\u201d Rodrigo admits, her voice fraying into multi-tracked harmonic strands. \u201cThe Cure\u201d builds gradually across five minutes, with orchestral strings and a stately piano weaving through the chorus. As the realization that nothing\u2014or no one\u2014will be enough overcomes the final bridge, a flurry of drums gallop in and the track explodes into fireworks as Rodrigo screams her guts out. \u201cThe Cure\u201d\u2019s emotional wallop feels like a mature step forward for the 23-year-old songwriter. There\u2019s no toxic ex to rage against, only her own reflection.
