{"id":686703,"date":"2026-05-22T16:38:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T16:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/686703\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T16:38:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T16:38:10","slug":"play-a-round-for-the-kids-surpasses-70k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/686703\/","title":{"rendered":"Play a Round for the Kids surpasses $70k"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2026 Play a Round for the Kids Golf Tournament kicked off tournament season in unforgettable fashion as 155 golfers filled the fairways at Black Bear Ridge Golf Resort for a sold-out day in support of The Children\u2019s Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>With blue skies, sunshine, and incredible community spirit from start to finish, the tournament raised more than $70,000 for the foundation\u2019s Playing for Keeps program, helping local children and youth access sports, recreation, arts, and extracurricular activities across Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward Counties.<\/p>\n<p>A full field of 144 golfers took to the championship course while another 11 players joined the nine-hole tournament, all coming together for one shared purpose, creating opportunities for children to explore, learn, play, and thrive.<\/p>\n<p>MORE BELOW<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quintenews.com\/?attachment_id=384179\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-384179 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-384179\" class=\"size-full wp-image-384179\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/petersmithteams-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2667\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-384179\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Peter Smith GM team putting the fun in fundraising<\/p>\n<p>The Children\u2019s Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to championship sponsors Peter Smith GM and McDougall Insurance, along with the many sponsors, volunteers, prize donors, golfers, and community supporters who made the day possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was one of those days where you could truly feel the community coming together,\u201d said Ingrid Moore, Executive Director of The Children\u2019s Foundation. \u201cThere was so much energy, generosity, and excitement on the course.
