\n\tThe first trailer for Vought Rising<\/a> has landed.<\/p>\n

\n\tBelow is a first look at The Boys<\/a> spin-off series, which is a prequel to Prime Video\u2019s satirical anti-superhero hit.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new show is set in 1950 and focuses on fan-favorite character Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and season two breakout Stormfront (Aya Cash), with the duo also serving as producers. In addition, there\u2019s Torpedo (Will Hochman), Bombsight (Mason Dye) and Private Angel (Elizabeth Posey). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe story has been described as a twisted murder mystery that charts the origins of the sinister Vought corporation.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe first footage is light on dialogue and heavy on atmospheric action, setting up the World War II setting and early days of experimenting with the superhero power enabling Compound V. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter recently The Boys creator Eric Kripke about the spinoff, which is produced by Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television, and how the new show\u2019s tone compares to the original.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s definitely got some Boys\u2018 DNA in that it\u2019s irreverent and graphic,\u201d Kripke said. \u201cBut it has this sort of lovely, almost noir-like murder mystery \u2014 not Black Noir but actual noir. There are detectives and twists, and there\u2019s a murder that then opens up into a bigger conspiracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tContinued Kripke: \u201cWe\u2019re also trying to do a very gritty version of the \u201950s. Most people\u2019s feeling or sense memory of the \u201950s is from movies, which are very sanitized. Even L.A. Confidential, as much as I love it, is visually a pretty clean movie. We wanted dirty and grimy. There would be heroin dens and gay bars and this underbelly of popular culture at the time. So to explore all that is a blast, as well.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWe pointed out that the original heavily draws from mocking current Hollywood, media and political trends and wondered if there was any concern over losing such timely and relatable topics as story fodder.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would say our satirical teeth are just as sharp,\u201d he said. \u201cHistory is a circle, and a lot of what was happening then are the same things that are happening now \u2014 from like weaponized religion to the way media is self-absorbed and self-centered. A lot of the targets are the same, and you get to see the origin of it. [Showrunner Paul Grellong] chose 1950 and he\u2019s so smart to have chosen it. It\u2019s really when America defined what the next 100 years were going to look like. So you see this reasonably new invention called television, with this new notion of advertising right into people\u2019s homes. It\u2019s the origin of the world we live in.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent Entertainment Tonight interview, star Ackles teased the show would be rather different than the original. \u201cIt\u2019ll feel definitely like a different show, with the foundation and the heart of what made The Boys,\u201d Ackles said<\/a>. \u201cIn The Boys, in modern times, [Soldier Boy is] a fish out of water. He\u2019s an analog guy who\u2019s trapped in a digital world. So now we see him in his element. We see \u2026 what made him who he was.\u201d <\/p>\n
