{"id":687919,"date":"2026-05-23T05:32:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T05:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/687919\/"},"modified":"2026-05-23T05:32:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T05:32:22","slug":"7th-candidate-enters-winnipeg-mayoral-race-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/687919\/","title":{"rendered":"7th candidate enters Winnipeg mayoral race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A political newcomer has added his name to the growing list of candidates running to be mayor of Winnipeg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Joshua Pagdato, 39, works as a document management specialist in the fields of logistics and supply chain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He is also the founder of a social media group called Project Protect the Kids Canada, which posts information about missing children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A born-and-raised Winnipegger, Pagdato believes his experience as &#8220;a policy and systems guy&#8221; can help him fix some of Winnipeg&#8217;s ills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I&#8217;m running because I believe Winnipeg is experiencing overlapping system failures involving housing, addiction, public disorder, affordability and public burnout.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Pagdato said he&#8217;s also motivated to make the city better for his 10-year-old daughter and her generation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I would like to house the homeless, heal the sick and lower the cost of living,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Pagdato is the seventh mayoral candidate to register for the Oct. 28 municipal election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He joins incumbent Scott Gillingham, Mazher Alam, Chris Clacio, Umar Hayat, Mike Vogiatzakis and Don Woodstock on the ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Prospective mayoral candidates have until Sept. 22 to register.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The registration period for city councillor and school trustee candidates opens June 30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A political newcomer has added his name to the growing list of candidates running to be mayor of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":687920,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[194296],"tags":[49,48,251813,251814,222043,22073],"class_list":["post-687919","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-winnipeg","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-joshua-pagdato","tag-kids-canada","tag-mayoral-candidates","tag-winnipeg"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/687919","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=687919"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/687919\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/687920"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=687919"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=687919"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=687919"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
