Diane passed peacefully in Surrey B.C. on April 30 , 2025 .

Diane is predeceased by her son Jason Kope , her parents Peter and Mary Ketler and her brother Mark Ketler.

Survived by her son Greg and her extended family .

Diane had a lot of good memories which were made throughout her lifetime with family , friends , coworkers , neighbours and acquaintances . Throughout her life , some good friends were made . It was in the Kennedy Heights area of Delta B.C. where she started elementary school and attended Strawberry Hill Church with her family . Most of her extended family lived within a few blocks from her , which made family gatherings easier.

When Diane was 13 years old , her family moved to Burnaby B.C. near Kingsway and Stride . She attended and graduated from Burnaby South Secondary.

After post secondary schooling , between the years of 1972 and 2014 , she met and enjoyed working with a lot of people in the Lumber Industry and the Hot Tub Industry . She had lots of good memories of company functions like : potlucks , BBQ’s , golf tournaments and Christmas parties.

As for hobbies and pass times , just to name a few, she always had a N.Y.T. crossword puzzle on the go which she liked to share with others. Cooking and hosting dinner parties was something she really enjoyed and so did we . A few people received sets of embroidered tea towels as embroidery was another pass time of hers . Gardening , reading and listening to music were also on the list of activities . At an early age , Diane learned how to play the piano and enjoyed listening to other pianists. She admired a professional pianist by the name of Victor Borge because he was able to combine some comedy with his professional piano playing , which gave her some good laughs . She listened to a wide range of music and found music to be quite powerful in the way that it can make you laugh or cry.

In retirement , Diane continued enjoying her pass times . As mobility issues started developing , she added Amazon and Facebook to her activities . She also took up colouring beautiful butterflies and flowers which would , occasionally , end up framed and on her “Wall of Fame” beside her bed . Even with mobility issues she seemed to be in a good mood and quite content .

We are thankful for all of the people who helped and cared for Diane and made her life a better place .

There is far more to her life than the words that can be read in her obituary . She will be loved and remembered always.

A few weeks before passing she had found a poem which she wanted people to remember her by. The poem is :

              “When I’m Gone”

When I come to the end of my journey

and I travel my last weary mile

Just forget if you can ,

that I ever frowned

And remember only the smile

Forget unkind words I have spoken

Remember some good I have done

Forget that I ever had heartache

And remember I’ve had loads of fun

Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered

And sometimes fell by the way

Remember I have fought some hard battles

And won , ere the close of the day

Then forget to grieve for my going

I would not have you sad for a day

But in summer just gather some flowers

And remember the place where I lay

And come in the shade of evening

When the sun paints the sky in the west

Stand for a few moments beside me

And remember only my best .

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Margaret Kope .
