CHATTANOOGA, TN \u2013 Lia Melvin<\/a> advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in singles and Ava Li<\/a> and Kamila Wong<\/a> did the same in the doubles draw Friday at the NCAA Championships.

\nMelvin opened the day with a tight 6-4, 6-4 win over Eva Kovachev (Trinity) in the round of 32. She then won 7-5, 6-2 over Saina Deshpande (MIT), who had upset the number two seed in the opening round. This is the second straight year and third time in program history that a Blue Jays has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship.

\nLi and Wong, seeded fourth in the draw, grabbed a 6-1, 7-6 (7) win over Amelie Gonzalez and Ginevra Muratori (Skidmore) to advance to Saturday’s quarterfinal. This is Wong’s second trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals and the third by a Blue Jay doubles’ team.
