Outfielder and designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is returning to the Blue Jays on a minor-league deal, Sportsnet confirmed on Friday. <\/p>\n
Jimenez, a former top prospect and Silver Slugger award winner, was first signed to a minor-league deal in August 2025, before signing another one during the off-season that included an invite to Blue Jays spring training. <\/p>\n
Despite batting .286 with a .857 OPS and six extra base hits \u2014 including two home runs \u2014 in spring training, Jimenez started the season at triple-A Buffalo.<\/p>\n
He was eventually called up after George Springer went on the injured list with a broken toe in April, but had a .290\/.343\/.290 slash line and was designated for assignment when Springer returned 12 games later. <\/p>\n
Rated as high as No. 3 on the MLB top prospects list in 2019 \u2014 alongside Ronald Acuna Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. \u2014 Jimenez hit a career-high 31 home runs in his rookie season. <\/p>\n
