The Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> are officially on life support, and Stephen A. Smith has seen enough. Following the Cavs disheartening 121-108 loss<\/a> to the New York Knicks<\/a> in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the ESPN analyst took to social media to blast the team\u2019s effort. With the Cavaliers now trailing 3-0 in the series, Smith claimed the franchise completely threw in the towel on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a disgraceful late-game show of effort by the @cavs,\u201d Smith posted on X. \u201cHate to say it, because I\u2019m a @nyknicks fan, but it\u2019s just the truth: when you see this franchise quit like they just did, it needs someone who cares a bit more. Someone proudly accountable to Cleveland.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lopsided defeat certainly justified Smith\u2019s frustration. New York completely dominated the physical battle, shooting an efficient 56% from the field and keeping Cleveland at arm\u2019s length all night. Jalen Brunson<\/a> cooked the Cavaliers for 30 points and six assists, while Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby<\/a> put in shifts to secure the win.<\/p>\n

Cleveland struggled to find any rhythm, especially from deep, where they shot an abysmal 12-of-41 (29%). While Donovan Mitchell<\/a> scored 23 points and Evan Mobley<\/a> fought for 24 points, a costly late-game stretch, plagued by 17 total team turnovers, allowed New York to cruise to victory and extend its postseason winning streak to 10 games.<\/p>\n

Now, the Cavaliers face a historic mountain to climb<\/a>. No team in NBA history has ever recovered from a 3-0 playoff deficit. Unless Cleveland finds a historic spark in Game 4 on Monday, their season will end in a sweep.<\/p>\n
