{"id":690805,"date":"2026-05-24T15:17:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T15:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/690805\/"},"modified":"2026-05-24T15:17:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T15:17:23","slug":"1-4m-contract-for-new-fleetwood-firehall-work-before-surrey-council-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/690805\/","title":{"rendered":"$1.4M contract for new Fleetwood firehall work before Surrey council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              $1.4M contract for new Fleetwood firehall work before Surrey council<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 12:30 pm Friday, May 22, 2026<\/p>\n<p>Surrey city staff are recommending that council approve a $1,425,810.75 contract for Chandos Construction to provide \u201cprogressive design-build pre-construction services\u201d related to relocating and expanding Fleetwood Fire Hall 6.<\/p>\n<p>It will be at 9261 and 9271 152 Street and 9258 and 9278 151A Street, and if council approves the contract this coming Monday the spending limit will be set at $1,650,000.<\/p>\n<p>City manager Rob Costanzo notes in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surrey.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/corporate-reports\/CR_2026-R108.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">corporate report<\/a> coming before council that the current Fire Hall 6, at 9040 152 street, opened in April 1961 near the intersection of Fraser Highway and 152 Street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe existing hall is no longer adequate to serve the surrounding community and is to be demolished to facilitate future development along the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain line,\u201d Costanzo said.<\/p>\n<p>The new Surrey Fire Services hall will be <a href=\"https:\/\/surreynowleader.com\/2026\/03\/09\/land-cleared-for-30m-replacement-fire-hall-in-fleetwood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">four times the size<\/a> of the one it will replace three blocks south, near Fraser Highway.<\/p>\n<p>The capital cost is $30 million for the replacement fire hall, which will be around 23,000 square feet.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to start next year and be completed in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 with file from Tom Zillich<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"$1.4M contract for new Fleetwood firehall work before Surrey council Published 12:30 pm Friday, May 22, 2026 Surrey&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":690551,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[194299],"tags":[49,48,163792,87674],"class_list":["post-690805","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-lower-mainland","tag-surrey"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/690805","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=690805"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/690805\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/690551"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=690805"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=690805"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=690805"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
