The Wildcats open the year with a pair of preseason tune-ups,\u00a0with\u00a0an intrasquad Purple\/White Scrimmage on August 6, followed by a dominant 5-1 exhibition win over the University of the Incarnate Word on August 9.<\/p>\n<p>The regular season kicks off on Thursday, August 14, at UTEP, before a quick turnaround to face New Mexico State on August 17. ACU&#8217;s home debut comes August 21 against Tulsa for the Freshman Tailgate \u2014 the first meeting between the programs since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The matchup will help set the tone for the season during the first week of classes, giving fans an early glimpse at what the Wildcats have in store.<\/p>\n<p>On August 24, ACU hosts Houston Christian for She Can Be Day, an event dedicated to empowering women and girls in sports and beyond. Additional non-conference highlights include trips to Oral Roberts (August 28), East Texas A&amp;M (August 31), and North Texas (September 4), plus a First Responders Night clash at home with Northwestern State on September 11.<\/p>\n<p>The final non-conference test comes at Baylor on September 14 \u2014 a rematch of the 2023 meeting in which the Big 12 foe came out on top. The Wildcat&#8217;s best result against the Bears came in 2019, a hard-fought 2 OT draw.<\/p>\n<p>Western Athletic Conference play begins September 25 with back-to-back road games against defending WAC champion California Baptist and Utah Valley. The Wildcats return home on October 2 for the Purple Game against Utah Tech, followed by Senior Day versus Southern Utah on October 5. League play also features trips to Tarleton State (October 10), Southern Utah (October 16), and Utah Tech (October 19).<\/p>\n<p>A three-game home stretch closes the regular season: Greek Night and Pink Out the Punch against Tarleton State (October 25), Kicks and Treats versus Utah Valley (October 30), and International Day against California Baptist (November 2), celebrating ACU&#8217;s diverse campus community.<\/p>\n<p>With a strong mix of experience and new talent, the Wildcats enter 2025 confident in their ability to compete at a high level. Head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/coaches\/stephen-salas\/1573\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1573\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Salas<\/a>\u00a0said the group&#8217;s energy and chemistry have already set a positive tone for the year.<\/p>\n<p>RETURNERS<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the strong group of seniors who are determined and hungry to lead their team from the front,&#8221; said Salas. &#8220;With 10 seniors in our leadership group, the standard is high and the expectations even higher.\u00a0Every position group is primed with experience, leadership, and drive.<\/p>\n<p>Our attack has made massive strides, matching potential with opportunity largely thanks to the development of Associate Head Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/coaches\/audrey-adkison\/1574\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1574\" target=\"_blank\">Audrey Adkison<\/a>. Amelia Legget and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/peyton-hill\/10987\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10987\" target=\"_blank\">Peyton Hill<\/a> headline the front line after an outstanding spring and preseason, showing the strength, composure, and determination that set the tone for our offense.\u00a0We have <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/hannah-vetromile\/11001\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11001\" target=\"_blank\">Hannah Vetromile<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/nia-leslie\/10993\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10993\" target=\"_blank\">Nia Leslie<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/raegan-hollis\/10988\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10988\" target=\"_blank\">Raegan Hollis<\/a>, who will put backlines on their heels with how elusive they are. A creative force and potential breakout player is one of our leading goal scorers from last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/amelia-miller\/10995\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10995\" target=\"_blank\">Amelia Miller<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our midfield is led by our graduate student-athlete, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/abby-smith\/11000\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11000\" target=\"_blank\">Abby Smith<\/a>. Her ability to create, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/emma-nylund\/10997\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10997\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Nylund<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/baylie-simon\/10999\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10999\" target=\"_blank\">Baylie Simon<\/a>, will be crucial for us. Baylie\u00a0and Emma&#8217;s consistency in their work ethic is what shines and helps\u00a0lead our team. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/raelin-miller\/10996\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10996\" target=\"_blank\">Raelin Miller<\/a> complements her sister&#8217;s creativity\u00a0with her ability to find impact passes and her vision on the ball. We are ecstatic about the\u00a0versatility in being able to\u00a0use <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/hannah-martin\/10994\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10994\" target=\"_blank\">Hannah Martin<\/a> in the\u00a0midfield or backline, and\u00a0she excels in both. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/aliyah-anderson\/10985\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10985\" target=\"_blank\">Aliyah Anderson<\/a> will be a driving\u00a0force of leadership this\u00a0season with her ability to mentor tactically and impart wisdom while recovering from injury.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, we&#8217;ve transformed into a unit with a strong backline thanks to assistant coach <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/coaches\/kylie-gazza\/1575\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1575\" target=\"_blank\">Kylie Gazza<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/mccarly-holloman\/10989\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10989\" target=\"_blank\">McCarly Holloman&#8217;s<\/a> relentless work ethic and ability to dominate on both sides of the ball set the tone of our team. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/gracie-kelly\/10990\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10990\" target=\"_blank\">Gracie Kelly<\/a> is ruthless on the backline, as she was one of the top freshmen last year in the WAC and is poised to prove herself again. The goalkeeping position is the strongest and most athletic we&#8217;ve had as a staff, and I couldn&#8217;t be more proud of the work they&#8217;ve put in and keep putting in to serve the team and compete. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/lili-ross\/10998\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10998\" target=\"_blank\">Lili Ross<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/emma-konsmo\/10991\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10991\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Konsmo<\/a> have grown into their roles of goalkeeping and leadership\u00a0between the\u00a0posts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NEWCOMERS<\/p>\n<p>With our returners, there are seven first-year students, as well as two transfers\u00a0who proudly wear the purple and white.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/shakira-kafero-roberts\/11006\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11006\" target=\"_blank\">Shakira Kafero-Roberts<\/a>, a forward from the United Kingdom, transferred from the University of North Carolina-Pembroke. She started in 14 games her first year with four goals, four assists, and averaged 1092 minutes on the season. Kefero-Roberts will be a substantial addition to the frontline at ACU.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/shelby-hollywood\/11004\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11004\" target=\"_blank\">Shelby Hollywood<\/a>, a standout dual-sport athlete in volleyball and soccer from Salado, Texas, brings an impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9 to the collegiate level as an Offensive MVP and recipient of All-Region and All-State honors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/emma-taylor\/11005\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11005\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Taylor<\/a>, hailing from Frisco, Texas, also adds an accomplished background with both All-State and All-Region recognition.<\/p>\n<p>From Olathe, Kansas, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/keely-niehues\/11007\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11007\" target=\"_blank\">Keely Niehues<\/a> arrives as an Eastern Kansas League Champion with multiple State Tournament appearances under her belt.<\/p>\n<p>The freshman traveling the farthest is <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/kylie-wilkins\/11003\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11003\" target=\"_blank\">Kylie Wilkins<\/a> from Temecula, California, a former Rookie of the Year who adds a unique regional perspective to the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a good balance of players coming in from freshmen and transfers in various positions that will complement our returners well,&#8221; Salas said.\u00a0&#8220;Shakira is bringing in international experience, is a transfer freshman of the year, and has already brought a dynamic spark that elevates our attack. When we discussed speed, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/shelby-hollywood\/11004\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11004\" target=\"_blank\">Shelby Hollywood<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/kylie-wilkins\/11003\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11003\" target=\"_blank\">Kylie Wilkins<\/a> added a valuable asset to our team, as they could get behind backlines. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/emma-taylor\/11005\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11005\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Taylor<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/keely-niehues\/11007\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11007\" target=\"_blank\">Keely Niehues<\/a> bring in much-needed height and have an innate\u00a0ability to create.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The other transfer, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/katy-gregson\/10986\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10986\" target=\"_blank\">Katy Gregson<\/a>, is a Junior originally from Frisco, Texas. She came from Liberty University, where she totaled 14 games in her time as a Flame. Gregson managed to score one goal in 363 minutes. She brings DI experience to the table and will help create a leadership that will help ACU make its way to the top.<\/p>\n<p>Jada Farrigton, a freshman from Leawood, Kansas, balances three sports, lettering all three in high school. Farrington was recognized as Defender of the Year, a regional champion, and an All-State player.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our newcomers\u00a0to our backline will strengthen us for this year and beyond,&#8221; Salas said. &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/katy-gregson\/10986\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10986\" target=\"_blank\">Katy Gregson<\/a> has been key to our backline and team mentality since transferring in the spring. Her ability to dominate anywhere across the backline, coupled with her determined integrity, speaks to our team identity. <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/jada-farrington\/11008\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11008\" target=\"_blank\">Jada Farrington<\/a> is already turning heads with her all-around defensive game and has a bright future as a Wildcat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The final newcomer, <a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/bella-medrano\/11002\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11002\" target=\"_blank\">Bella Medrano<\/a>, a native of Lubbock, Texas, is one addition to the goalkeeper squad. Being Goalkeeper of the Year, All-District, All-Region, and All-State, she brought aggressiveness to the defense.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/acusports.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/bella-medrano\/11002\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11002\" target=\"_blank\">Bella Medrano<\/a> is the future of ACU goalkeeping in making clutch saves, is dangerous with her distribution, and can be one of the best goalkeepers for years to come,&#8221; said Salas.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m excited to watch the growth of this team over each practice, game, and throughout the season, with our focus to win a conference championship\u00a0as a team. The spring showed us what this team can be, going 6-1 and setting the standard in fitness levels.
