The @Ticats have signed WR Kenny Lawler to a new 3-year $1 million contract … making it the biggest receiver deal in CFL history, aside from the 1991 Rocket Ismail @argos contract for personal services. The 31-year-old Lawler led the @CFL with 16.8 yards per catch last season…

— Dave Naylor (@TSNDaveNaylor) May 26, 2026

Lawler is 31 years old now, a decade since he played his college football at the NCAA level for California.

He was a seventh-round pick out of college in the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, but he never appeared in an NFL regular season game.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Lawler has been in the CFL since 2019. He spent four seasons with Winnipeg, with a season with Edmonton interspersed, before joining Hamilton for 2025.

He had previously put up 1,014 yards as his career-best with Winnipeg in 2021, but he flew past that in 2025 for the Tiger-Cats.

Now, he’ll have the weight of some additional expectation on his shoulders, but Hamilton clearly feels that Lawler is worth it.

MORE: These 2 Maple Leafs stars had an incredible reaction to draft lottery news
