NEW YORK \u2013\u00a0Texas A&M’s Lucciana Perez<\/a> was named a finalist for the Honda Award for women’s tennis, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Perez is one of four finalists in the running for the award, which is given to female athletes in 12 different NCAA-sanctioned sports who show excellence not only on the playing field but in the classroom and their community.<\/p>\n

This is Perez’s first time being nominated for the award following a standout year for the Aggies. She looks to join Mary Stoiana<\/a> as Texas A&M players to claim the prestigious honor. Stoiana, who earned the award in 2024, was a three-time finalist.<\/p>\n

On the court, Perez finished one of the best athletics seasons in Texas A&M history. She helped the Aggies claim their second NCAA women’s tennis title in the last three years along with winning their fifth consecutive SEC regular-season crown. was named the SEC Player of the Year following Texas A&M’s first-ever undefeated season. She posted a 28-0 singles record, including a 13-0 record in SEC regular-season matches. She logged a 7-0 record in matches against ITA top 10 opponents. In March, she became the second A&M player to ever climb to No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings.<\/p>\n

Perez was named to the SEC Community Service Team this year. She has served Texas A&M and the Bryan-College Station community well through various service activities. Most notably she assisted the athletics department’s marketing staff in creating a fun Halloween atmosphere for children in the community.<\/p>\n

Voting is currently open for the Honda Award among collegiate senior women’s administrators.
