The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> are looking for any method possible to turn things around.<\/p>\n

That includes wearing a lot of red with their uniforms — socks and sleeves and cleats and more.<\/p>\n

Red is a Blue Jays<\/a> staple on Canada Day, but they’re wearing plenty of it just for nondescript regular season games.<\/p>\n

For example, you can see Kazuma Okamoto<\/a> with a bunch of red underneath his uniform in the picture at the top of this article.<\/p>\n

It’s not an accident.<\/p>\n

Why are the Blue Jays wearing so much red?<\/p>\n

This is baseball’s superstitions reaching Toronto.<\/p>\n

“Jeff Hoffman<\/a> spilled the beans to us in the clubhouse,” Sportsnet’s Dan Shulman<\/a> said during Toronto’s broadcast on Monday, May 25. “We didn’t really get into whether it’s a bonding thing or a superstition thing, but everybody has bought in.”<\/p>\n

Dylan Cease may have been the trendsetter. In his May 8 start, he rocked a red glove with a red belt, red socks and red sleeves, and he struck out 10 while not allowing a run.<\/p>\n

Now, Toronto is going for it by being all-in on red.<\/p>\n

The Blog TO reports<\/a> that the Blue Jays were 9-8 through Monday’s action since Cease<\/a> broke out the red — that’s better than they had been before then, so maybe there is a little something to the red magic.<\/p>\n
