{"id":696519,"date":"2026-05-27T06:04:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T06:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/696519\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T06:04:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T06:04:28","slug":"cambrian-gives-some-250-high-schoolers-a-crash-course-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/696519\/","title":{"rendered":"Cambrian gives some 250 high schoolers a crash course in business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students from nine Greater Sudbury high schools learned marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting and finance and business management, while given a chance to earn a $1,000 scholarship<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 250 students from nine local high schools had to Level Up to get down to business at Cambrian College recently.<\/p>\n<p>The students were on campus earlier in May for Level Up: Business @ Cambrian, powered by the Douglas A. Smith Family School of Business. The event provided students with an opportunity to experience the world of business.<\/p>\n<p>The students attended four different workshops on the topics of marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting and finance and business management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe labour market for this generation is going to be quite different from the one experienced by\u00a0their parents, and they may have to be a lot more business-savvy and entrepreneurial as opposed to working at one employer for life,\u201d said Jill Ferguson, the Dean of the Douglas A. Smith Family School of Business at Cambrian, in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Level Up event provided students with a taste of the knowledge and skills they may need in the future to thrive, regardless of what career they pursue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Level Up also included five $1,000 scholarships, donated by KPMG, to attend one of Cambrian\u2019s business programs.
