Darren Till Claims He Would Beat the Middleweight Champion<\/p>\n
Ahead of UFC<\/a> 328, the middleweight champion at the time, Khamzat Chimaev had the full backing of friend and training partner, Darren Till. The Englishman and Borz had a strong friendship from Till’s time in the UFC and although\u00a0The Gorilla is no longer fighting for the world’s premier promotion, he still believed Chimaev would win. He did show the American respect, however. Till acknowledged that Strickland was a tough opponent.<\/p>\n Fast forwards to last week and Chimaev suffered a loss at the hands of Strickland, losing his middleweight championship in the process and Till has been talking on the matter.<\/p>\n Speaking on a live stream with Kick.com<\/a>, Till said:<\/p>\n \u201cI look at Sean Strickland now, he\u2019s just beat Khamzat. I know for a fact me 100 per cent healthy I take him out. I know I would. Everyone even says it. It\u2019s easy for me to say it, he\u2019s the champion, but I trust in my skill set.”<\/p>\n There are few people who wouldn’t want to see this match-up. Till is a striking specialist and has only once lost when he hasn’t been heavily wrestled in the UFC. With an extensive background in Muay Thai, the Liverpudlian is dangerous out of his southpaw stance and when he’s locked in, he’s got some of the best movement in the business.<\/p>\n To say that he’d beat the best middleweight on the planet could be a little bit of a stretch for Darren Till, but there’s no denying his self belief.<\/p>\n Post-UFC Career<\/p>\n Coming off the back of one win and five losses, Darren Till was cut from the UFC.\u00a0<\/a>His losing streak wasn’t helped by a knee injury, but after working on that injury, he moved into the world of influencer boxing, where he’s ammassed a record of 3-0, blasting Anthony Taylor away, going the distance with Darren Stewart and smashing Luke Rockhold out of there in brutal fashion.<\/p>\n He’s scheduled to take on Aaron Chalmers this weekend in his bare knuckle debut. Chalmers made a name for himself on reality TV on the show ‘Geordie Shore’ but has since transitioned into influencer boxing, bare knuckle and also had a short lived MMA career. He’s had an exhibition fight with Floyd Mayweather<\/a> and has two BKFC fights under his belt. His most recent outing against another reality TV star isn’t the best preperation for Darren Tull, however.<\/p>\n Fellow UFC vet, John Phillips joins Darren Till on the card in Birmingham.
