It has an ongoing program to purge the Android marketplace of high-risk and low quality downloads. Android users are warned when a dangerous app is on their phones, but not when an app is removed. Now for the first time, code found in a pre-release Play Store update suggests Google may now confirm when a Play Store app is deleted.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"embed-base color-body color-body-border link-embed embed-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2026\/05\/26\/blue-bubbles-apple-says-iphone-messaging-is-still-best\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\u2018Blue Bubbles\u2019\u2014Apple Says iPhone Messaging Is Still \u2018Best\u2019\" data-ga-track=\"forbesEmbedly:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2026\/05\/26\/blue-bubbles-apple-says-iphone-messaging-is-still-best\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Forbes\u2018Blue Bubbles\u2019\u2014Apple Says iPhone Messaging Is Still \u2018Best\u2019By Zak Doffman<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlay Store currently only alerts users via Play Protect for serious security threats, <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-play-store-app-removal-notification-apk-teardown-3670936\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-play-store-app-removal-notification-apk-teardown-3670936\/\" aria-label=\"Android Authority\">Android Authority<\/a>, reports. But an update has been found in pre-release code, \u201cinforming users that there will be no future updates for the app on the Play Store.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pre-release code shows a warning listing each deleted app, telling users \u201cit was removed from Google Play and will no longer receive updates.\u201d It\u2019s not yet clear if there will be an easy deletion option included. But given the risk from apps that no longer receive fixes, it\u2019s important to remove these from your phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlay Store could soon warn you about dead Android apps on your phone,\u201d Android Authority says, which is overdue. Last week, <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.humansecurity.com\/learn\/resource\/satori-threat-intelligence-alert-trapdoor-funnels-malvertising-into-ad-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.humansecurity.com\/learn\/resource\/satori-threat-intelligence-alert-trapdoor-funnels-malvertising-into-ad-fraud\/\" aria-label=\"Human Security\">Human Security<\/a> flagged a new ad fraud campaign comprising 453 apps installed 24 million times.
