Video: Shavkat Rakhmonov returns to MMA gym, works toward UFC return<\/p>\n

Shavkat Rakhmonov is making what seems like positive progress toward his UFC return.<\/p>\n

Undefeated welterweight contender Rakhmonov (19-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) was last seen in the octagon at UFC 310 in December 2024 when he handed Ian Machado Garry<\/a>his lone career defeat<\/a>. He entered the fight with a knee injury, and has struggled to get himself right to capitalize on the momentum of his place in the division.<\/p>\n

After experiencing another setback and surgery in January, glimpses of Rakhmonov’s recovery have surfaced. Last month, it was rehab training<\/a> to rebuild strength in the legs, and now it’s footage of him in the gym moving and hitting pads.<\/p>\n

Rakhmonov’s injuries prevented him from accepting a title opportunity against then-champ Belal Muhammad<\/a>\u00a0in May 2025, and he’s been on the sidelines ever since.<\/p>\n

Following his most recent surgery, Rakhmonov’s team told MMA Junkie the fighter was hopeful for a return in late 2026. It’s unknown if that timeline is still in play, and if so, whom he could face in his comeback fight.<\/p>\n
