LOS ANGELES \u2014 Playing their best stretch of baseball this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers have suddenly been hit with a spate of injuries.<\/p>\n
For the second consecutive night, a rousing victory over the Colorado Rockies was marred, in part, by an injury to a key contributor, as Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez exited in the second inning of a 4-1 win with a strained left hamstring.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisappointing,\u201d manager Dave Roberts said. \u201cHe\u2019s been playing so well, and he\u2019s a big part of what we\u2019re doing. So to lose him for any length of time is not great.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hern\u00e1ndez will hit the injured list, Roberts said.<\/p>\n
The club has not finalized a decision on who will take the two-time All-Star\u2019s spot on the roster, though they have Thursday\u2019s off day to sort through their options. Hern\u00e1ndez will undergo an MRI on Thursday before the team can assess a timeline for his return. Roberts said Hern\u00e1ndez responded well to initial testing.<\/p>\n
Still, Roberts said, \u201csomething like that, obviously, is going to be a few weeks at the minimum.\u201d<\/p>\n
The signs of an injury were immediate as Hern\u00e1ndez ran out a grounder in the second inning. After crossing the first-base bag, Hern\u00e1ndez immediately grabbed at his hamstring, taking a long stroll back to the dugout at Dodger Stadium. Once there, he grabbed his helmet and hit it against the equipment rack.<\/p>\n
For a club that has now won 12 of its last 14 games in its bid for a third consecutive World Series title, Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s injury is gutting. He will join an IL list that already includes 14 other players, including Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez, who will be out for at least six to eight weeks with a \u201csignificant tear\u201d of his left oblique<\/a>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a frustrating development for Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez, who has been resurgent in May with a .892 OPS and an ear-to-ear grin that has been typical over his three-year tenure in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez missed time in 2025 with a strained left groin and said in spring training that he played the rest of the way guarding the injury. That coincided with one of the worst stretches of his Dodgers tenure, a .672 OPS the rest of the season and lackluster defense in right field.<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t moving the way I know I can move,\u201d Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez said this spring.<\/p>\n Hyeseong Kim took Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s place in left field to start the third inning, his first game at the position in the majors and just his fourth time playing left field in two seasons in the United States.<\/p>\n In the interim,\u00a0Roberts said Alex Call could get more time in left field and build off his strong start. He entered play on Wednesday with a .792 OPS, including a .417 on-base percentage. He added an RBI single and a diving catch in right field on Wednesday.<\/p>\n The Dodgers will have to sort through their choices on who takes Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s spot on the active roster, though they have a few options:<\/p>\n Ryan Ward is on the 40-man roster and made a brief debut last month.
\nTyler Fitzgerald was already looming as a possibility as the Dodgers discussed how to fill out their roster this week, and he has played some corner outfield at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
\nAlek Thomas, who was acquired via trade this month with the Arizona Diamondbacks, is also with the org. Thomas is on the 40-man roster, though he has spent the time since the trade working on swing tweaks at the Dodgers\u2019 spring complex in Arizona.
\nJack Suwinski, who was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates this spring, entered the day with a .975 OPS in the minors.
