A Perfect Circle<\/a> have surprise-released an epic new, \u2018Starless\u2019, just days before they kick off their UK tour. Listen below.<\/p>\n

The new song dropped last night (Wednesday May 27) and marks their first since the track \u2018Kindred\u2019 that featured on 2024\u2019s \u2018Sessanta E.P.P.P.\u2019 \u2013 which also featured contributions from Primus<\/a> and another Maynard James Keenan<\/a>-led band, Puscifer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Written by Keenan and Billy Howerdell at the latter\u2019s Lankershim Ranch Studio in California earlier this year, the single features Josh Freese on drums and moves between gritty, guitar-driven riffs and ethereal, heartfelt moments of tenderness.<\/p>\n

\u201cPower hungry\/ Cold authority\/ Looking out for me\/ So they keep telling me,\u201d Keenan sings in the opening verse, building towards the angst-filled, majestic chorus: \u201cThat poison worm don\u2019t end\/ Gone up under my skin\/ Yield and bend\/ I\u2019ll become the enemy\/ Where am I going?\/ How did I get here\/ How do I get back?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The track arrives just days before A Perfect Circle kick off their first UK and European tour dates in eight years<\/a>, with shows set to begin with two sold-out nights at London\u2019s O2 Academy Brixton on June 3 and 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely chuffed to debut this new track on stage in the UK,\u201d Keenan said. \u201cOf course I\u2019m excited to release the recordings but our songs always take on an expanded personality once we start playing them live.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSome songs get kicked around and massaged for years,\u201d Howerdel added. \u201cBut once in a while, one takes shape quickly, as if it had been there all along.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the two UK dates, A Perfect Circle will play headline shows at venues across Zurich, Paris, Berlin and more, as well as making festival appearances at Rock Werchter, NOS Alive, Rock AM Ring and Mad Cool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In February, Maynard James Keenan spoke to NME about his time balancing three bands<\/a> (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tool), as well as running his own wine company Caduceus Cellars \u2013 and explained whether the busy schedule has led to him wanting any downtime away from touring commitments.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou only live twice, so I have to \u2013 I don\u2019t want to say, \u2018Strike while the iron\u2019s hot\u2019 because that sounds like such a Wall Street trader douchebag statement \u2013 but when you have the inspiration in front of you, and if you have the energy, you should listen and respond to it. I don\u2019t really see any reason why you shouldn\u2019t,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings are still coming out when they\u2019re ready. Not before they\u2019re ready. So if you just accept that this is your life [\u2026] then you just take it day by day. When you need the break, that\u2019s when you take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also opened up about if he had considered bringing his \u2018Sessanta\u2019 tour \u2013 a three-way headline tour with A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Primus \u2013 over to the UK after seeing the huge response from fans in the US.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve thought about it, and I think we tried, but the problem with bringing something like that over to Europe and the UK is the expense,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty expensive to do and it is cost-prohibitive because all three bands are splitting everything three ways, including expenses.
