Sarah Murphy<\/a> is backing Katie Taylor\u2019s Croke Park push \u2014 and hopes to support her hero in the boxing sense by earning a place on the undercard.<\/p>\n

Ireland\u2019s youngest pro, who returns to action on JB Promotions\u2019 Leopardstown bill this weekend, is passionate in her belief that the trailblazer deserves a stadium farewell.<\/p>\n

And if the September fight night does come to fruition, the Kildare native would love to be a part of it. <\/p>\n

\u201c100% Katie deserves it,\u201d Murphy said when discussing the proposed stadium showdown with Irish-boxing.com.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody in the world deserves it more than Katie. She has done so much not only for Irish boxing, but for women\u2019s boxing globally. She\u2019s the greatest of all time, so if it doesn\u2019t happen it would be very disheartening for all of Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murphy then outlined her own hopes of being part of the occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love to be on the show and, as Ireland\u2019s youngest-ever female professional boxer, it would only be right for me to be involved in such an event,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this being Katie\u2019s last fight, it\u2019s time for her to pass the torch on \u2014 and I\u2019d be happy to accept it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before any dream of Croke Park can become reality, the former underage amateur standout has business to take care of in Leopardstown this weekend, where she faces what she describes as the toughest test of her young professional career so far.<\/p>\n

The teenage prospect has impressed since turning professional and says the improvements in her game from fight one to now have been massive.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I\u2019ve settled into the pro game really nicely now and me and the team \u2014 Brian Guy and Wes Murphy \u2014 have seen a huge difference from the beginning until now,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith every fight I\u2019m getting stronger, faster and building my boxing IQ,\u201d adds the busy boxer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe journey has been amazing so far. I\u2019m learning every day without fail, training hard, travelling for sparring and training camps, so I\u2019m very happy with how everything is going to date.\u201d<\/p>\n

This weekend\u2019s opponent, Eva Cantos<\/a>, is expected to provide a very different challenge to the ones the starlet has faced previously \u2014 something she is relishing.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy opponent likes to come forward a lot, so I think that will benefit me, honestly,\u201d she continued<\/p>\n

\u201cTo face a different type of fighter compared to my last three is going to be great. I\u2019ve been told she can punch, but that shouldn\u2019t be a problem as long as I bring my best.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a step up from my previous opponents, but I\u2019m feeling very good about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m ready for whatever is put in front of me in any fight. The team and I have a plan in place, so it should be a very good fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old will be favoured to defeat the Spanish boxer, but to get the win via stoppage may prove difficult. Cantos is well known for her durability, any inside the distance win on Saturday would be a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody has stopped her yet, but that doesn\u2019t bother me because she hasn\u2019t met my speed and power before,\u201d Murphy said confidently.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think with my speed and power I\u2019m going to outbox her. It would be nice to get my first stoppage and make a statement, alright, but I\u2019m not rushing it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going looking for a stoppage, but if it comes, it comes.
