Photo: @DovySimuMMA\/X<\/p>\n<p>An aspiring mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from the southern Indian state of Kerala was killed in a rare bear attack in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, on May 8, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, who has been identified as \u00a0Hrishikesh\u00a0Koloth was\u00a0reportedly working at a uranium exploration site when the attack occurred.<\/p>\n<p>For more than a decade, he had trained in MMA, first in India and later in Canada after moving there three years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a professional fighter.<\/p>\n<p>He had been living in Penticton, British Columbia, with his brother, Arjun Koloth.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Indian MMA fighter Hrishikesh Koloth killed in bear attack in Canada <\/p>\n<p>He was working at a uranium exploration site when he was attacked.<\/p>\n<p>He had trained in MMA for over a decade, first in India and then in Canada after moving here three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He wanted to fight in the\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PTRYDsibrb\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/PTRYDsibrb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dovy\ud83d\udd0c (@DovySimuMMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DovySimuMMA\/status\/2059670832658444330?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">May 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to reports, he was working as a contract technician at the Zoo Bay property operated by Vancouver-based UraniumX Discovery Corp.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about his brother, Arjun told CNBC, \u201cThat was his dream. That\u2019s why he came here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wanted to fight in the UFC,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Reports said a civilian at the site shot and killed the bear following the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The animal has since been transported to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon for a necropsy, CBC News reported.<\/p>\n<p>UraniumX Discovery Corp has also confirmed the death of its employee.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, this was only the fourth fatal bear attack recorded in Saskatchewan\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous incident, 44-year-old Stephanie Blais was killed in a bear attack in 2020 near her family\u2019s cabin north of Buffalo Narrows.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hrishikesh Koloth.
