Brampton is encouraging residents to get on their bikes this summer with a month-long lineup of festivals, guided rides and community events designed to showcase the city\u2019s growing cycling culture and extensive trail network.<\/p>\n
Bike Month kicks off with a packed calendar of activities throughout June, offering residents opportunities to explore neighbourhoods, parks and natural spaces while promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable way to get around the city.<\/p>\n
The festivities begin with the Brampton Bike Festival on Sunday, May 31 at Chinguacousy Park near the Sandra Hames Curling Centre. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature bike tune-ups, safety checks, a children\u2019s bike parade and obstacle course, cycling education sessions, e-scooter demonstrations, food trucks, music and giveaways.<\/p>\n
The festival will also connect residents with local cycling organizations and information about Brampton\u2019s cycling infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Later in June, thousands of cyclists are expected to participate in Bike the Creek<\/a> on June 13, an annual ride that highlights scenic creek trails and natural spaces in Brampton and neighbouring communities. Organizers say the event encourages residents to experience the city through active transportation while riding alongside fellow cycling enthusiasts.<\/p>\n Volunteer-led Community Bike Rides<\/a> will also continue throughout the summer and into October. Organized by members of the Active Transportation Advisory Committee, the free guided rides aim to promote safe cycling habits while introducing participants to trails, neighbourhoods and destinations across Brampton.<\/p>\n The rides are scheduled for May 31, June 2, 6, 16 and 21, with additional dates continuing through the fall.<\/p>\n City officials are also encouraging residents to take advantage of Brampton\u2019s extensive trail network, which connects parks, neighbourhoods and green spaces across the city. Many of the routes feature paved pathways and signage designed to help cyclists and pedestrians navigate local trails.<\/p>\n Additional trail information is available through the\u00a0Brampton Cycling Map<\/a>\u00a0and the interactive\u00a0Peel Recreational Trails Map<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bike Month will also include workplace-focused initiatives encouraging employers to support cycling commutes through Bike to Work activities during June.
