Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested a suspect in connection with a violent triple stabbing in a St-Laurent park last summer that left one young man dead and two others injured.<\/p>\n

SPVM\u2019s Major Crimes Section confirmed that a 20-year-old suspect was arrested under warrant on Thursday afternoon in Villeray\u2013Saint-Michel\u2013Parc-Extension. He is expected to appear at the Montreal courthouse Friday, where he will face charges including second-degree murder and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n

Police say the arrest is linked to an incident that occurred on August 16, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., when emergency calls reported three people injured by a sharp object in a park near Jules-Poitras Street and Deguire Blvd.<\/p>\n

Responding officers found three men suffering from upper-body stab wounds. A 22-year-old victim was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries, marking the 26th homicide on the island of Montreal in 2025. Two 19-year-old men were also seriously injured but survived.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the case is part of an ongoing effort to solve violent crimes across the city. With this latest arrest, police say the clearance rate for homicides committed on the island of Montreal last year has reached 84 per cent, with 26 of 31 cases now solved.<\/p>\n

Authorities say violent offenders should expect to be identified and brought before the courts, even if arrests are not immediate, emphasizing that investigative tools and long-term follow-up remain key to solving serious crimes.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information related to violent incidents is urged to contact 911 or local police stations. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Info-Crime Montr\u00e9al at 514-393-1133 or online<\/a>, with potential rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.<\/p>\n
