Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> closer Abner Uribe<\/a> has been suspended by Major League Baseball<\/a> for one-game and given an undisclosed fine after his inappropriate strikeout celebration towards the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a>‘ dugout earlier in the week.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Uribe escaped a jam in the eighth inning against the Cardinals and expressed himself in an inappropriate way towards the opposing dugout.<\/p>\n Uribe will appeal his suspension, so he will not begin serving it until the appeals process is concluded.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old has posted a 4.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 21 strikeouts and five saves in 19.1 innings out of the Brewers’ bullpen this season. Uribe is sharing the closer role with Trevor Megill<\/a> who has a 4.74 ERA but is six for seven on saves.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The righty, Uribe, is coming off a superb campaign in 2025, where he produced a sparkling 1.67 ERA in 75.1 innings for Milwaukee. He also had seven saves in nine chances.<\/p>\n Uribe holds an impressive 2.58 ERA in 142 career big-league relief appearances since making his debut in 2023.<\/p>\n Milwaukee has the sixth best bullpen in the league with a 3.26 ERA as a unit. This comes despite an elbow injury for Jared Koenig<\/a> and underperformance from last year’s closer in Megill.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Brewers enter play on Friday with a 33-20 record and four game lead in the National League Central division. They are currently tied for the fourth-most wins in all of baseball.<\/p>\n Milwaukee is aiming for their fourth straight division title in 2026 and their eighth postseason appearance in the last nine years.
