May 29 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms plans to start testing an AI pendant in the next \u200cyear, as it charts a roadmap for \u200cwearable devices in an effort to reverse losses in its \u200bhardware division, The Information reported on Friday, citing a memo.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Meta declined to comment to Reuters on the report.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Facebook and Instagram owner plans \u200cto significantly expand \u2060its selection of AI glasses and add a business-focused service called “Wearables for Work” \u2060the report said, citing an internal memo by Alex Himel, Meta\u2019s vice president of wearables.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The report \u200bcomes after \u200bMeta’s hardware unit \u200bReality Labs reported a \u200closs of $4.03 billion in the first quarter on revenue of just $402 million.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Meta aims to sell 10 million wearable devices in the second half of 2026, driving sales by launching new products and \u200cselling them in more countries, \u200bThe Information said.<\/p>\n
