(Klas Stolpe \/ Juneau Independent)<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-ewqjl479\">One day after playing one of their most <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauindependent.com\/post\/crimson-bears-girls-unlucky-in-2-1-state-soccer-loss-to-warriors\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"dtqu- Cnx4-\" data-hook=\"web-link\">difficult games of the season<\/a>, the Juneau-Douglas High School: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/Yadaa.at\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"dtqu- Cnx4-\" data-hook=\"web-link\">Yadaa.at<\/a> Kal\u00e9 Crimson Bears played one of their better outings Friday in a 4-0 win over the Service Cougars during the state soccer tournament at Colony High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-8e1bt486\">\u201cI think the Wasilla game was just really hard for us,\u201d JDHS sophomore Ayla Erickson said. \u201cWe seemed to be off, but I think all of us kept working through the game. (Klas Stolpe \/ Juneau Independent)<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-xonlf492\">\u201cI think our defense played a lot better,\u201d Erickson said. \u201cWe were being first to every ball and then had ways to finish the ball too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-v0ecx495\">JDHS was in a battle through the first half, and neither team could get the advantage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-s9ihs498\">The pitch widened for JDHS in the second half and the goals followed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-y4le8501\">JDHS senior Peyton Wheeler scored her 71st career Crimson Bears goal off an assist by freshman Maddie Dale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-i1zzh504\">\u201cI think after the Wasilla loss it was really upsetting for us because we had beaten them before,\u201d Dale said. \u201cBut we just had to push it aside and focus on this game because we are still in it. We just have to focus on going for fourth, because that is the best we could do. (Klas Stolpe \/ Juneau Independent)<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-1vvvy507\">Wheeler had five shots in the match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-e964p510\">\u201cWe had a talk at half and said we really need to pick up our energy,\u201d Dale said. \u201cEither we win this or this could be, like, our seniors\u2019 last game. We are doing it for them and we are doing it for our team. So we just picked up our energy and it changed a lot. I was really just trying to win the balls and just being aggressive and giving it my all. Giving 100% throughout the whole game. We were really connecting more as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-9mwp2513\">Erickson would score the next two goals, both off assists by Wheeler.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-96f9e516\">These were Erickson\u2019s first two career state tournament goals in the game and she received the team\u2019s Hard Hat Award after the match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-13n3n519\">\u201cScoring a state goal was really exciting,\u201d Erickson said. \u201cIt makes me want to work harder and train more because you work all for this, and then you get here, and you have to show yourself and it is really exciting. I think one of the big things today was we really wanted to win our last game because it is the last game for our seniors. Senior Tearamae Alexander played 65 minutes and had three saves, senior Raynona Fraker came on for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-yomvy528\">JDHS\u2019 Wheeler and Service senior Sky Tapio received ASAA Player of the Game honors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-uxb92531\">Erickson and sophomore defender Nellie Stowers played 80 minutes, Wheeler 75, Simonson 74, Schultz, junior Kate Bovitz and sophomore Marigold Lindoff 70 each, Dale 58, Tagsip 46, senior Piper Blackgoat Diehl 34, Romero 31, junior Clairee Overson 28, freshman Maya Mothershead 22, freshman Mia Alexander 19, sophomore Gracie Snyder 12, and sophomore Cooper Blackgoat Diehl, freshman Amaya Henderson and freshman Emma Kovach 10 each.<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-7zy6k534\">\u201cI think we came out and showed who we are,\u201d JDHS coach Matt Dusneberry said. \u201cThe girls talked at halftime about not letting this be our last 40 minutes together. And they did, they came out with energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"-Q4aO hw1z8 DcaPr o-zp-\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-079im537\">JDHS will face Railbelt Conference foe Colony in the fourth\/sixth-place game Saturday.
