NEW YORK \u2014 MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning to give New York a victory over Miami after squandering a four-run lead.<\/p>\n
Mark Vientos launched a 445-foot homer for the last-place Mets, who have won two in a row following a five-game slide.<\/p>\n
A.J. Ewing and Brett Baty each had a two-run single in the first against unbeaten Max Meyer, who blanked New York on one hit over seven innings last weekend in Miami to help the Marlins earn a three-game sweep.<\/p>\n
Melendez came off the bench as a pinch hitter in the seventh and supplied a sacrifice fly that extended New York\u2019s lead to 7-5. Owen Cassie tied it with a two-run homer off Tobias Myers in the eighth.<\/p>\n
With one out in the 10th, Melendez fell behind 0-2 in the count before lofting a 98 mph fastball from Pete Fairbanks (2-3) into the second deck in right field just inside the foul pole.<\/p>\n
Pinch-runner Vidal Bruj\u00e1n, the automatic runner at second base, scored ahead of a fired-up Melendez, who flipped his bat when the ball stayed fair and gestured excitedly toward the New York dugout on Fireworks Night at Citi Field.<\/p>\n
Austin Warren (1-1) worked a perfect inning for the win.<\/p>\n
PITTSBURGH \u2014 Bryan Reynolds hit a two-run homer with one out in the ninth inning \u2014 after Oneil Cruz hit a mammoth shot early \u2014 to give Pittsburgh a victory over Minnesota.<\/p>\n
Reynolds launched\u00a0a 422-foot shot to left field off Taylor Rogers (1-2), scoring Tyler Callihan, who replaced Spencer Horwitz after an infield hit to begin the inning.<\/p>\n

WHITE SOX 4, TIGERS 3, 10 INNINGS<\/p>\n
CHICAGO \u2014 Miguel Vargas hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning to give Chicago a victory over Detroit.<\/p>\n
The White Sox tied the game in the ninth on Rikuu Nishida\u2019s bunt, and Vargas\u2019\u00a0391-foot winner\u00a0to left field an inning later scored automatic runner Drew Romo. It was his 13th home run of the year.<\/p>\n
Vargas also drove in Chicago\u2019s first run of the game on a double in the third inning.<\/p>\n
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Nishida bunted and the Tigers went for the out at first base. Andrew Benintendi then took off from third base and scored on Detroit first baseman Spencer Torkelson\u2019s errant throw home.<\/p>\n
Bryan Hudson (3-1) pitched the ninth inning and allowed a run while striking out a batter.<\/p>\n
Dillon Dingler had a two-run homer in the top of the third for Detroit, and Zack Short capped the Tigers\u2019 scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field in the 10th that scored Matt Vierling for a 3-2 lead.<\/p>\n
Drew Anderson (2-2) blew his second save of the year after allowing the game-ending homer. Troy Melton pitched seven innings in his start for Detroit and allowed one run on six hits.<\/p>\n
DENVER \u2014 Ezequiel Tovar capped a five-run ninth with his second homer of the game, Hunter Goodman had a three-run shot in the inning and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Tovar had four RBIs to help Colorado end a five-game skid.<\/p>\n
With the Rockies down 6-3, Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman led off the ninth with singles off Caleb Killian (1-3). One out later, Goodman hit a 2-2 slider just inside the foul pole in left for his 13th homer.<\/p>\n
Willi Castro\u2019s two-out single kept the rally going and Tovar lined his fourth homer of the season into the seats in left to end it.<\/p>\n

BALTIMORE \u2014 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to cap a furious Toronto rally, and the Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Toronto trailed 5-0 at the start of the seventh and had managed only two hits before Baltimore\u2019s beleaguered pitching staff \u2014 which had been better of late \u2014 unraveled. Starter Trevor Rogers didn\u2019t get another out, allowing two-run homers to Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo. It was the first big league hit for McAdoo, who was making his debut.<\/p>\n
Tyler Wells relieved Rogers and got through the rest of the seventh. Then Yannier Cano (1-2) quickly gave up the lead the following inning. George Springer and Ernie Clement hit back-to-back singles, and they both scored on Guerrero\u2019s double.<\/p>\n
Jackson Holliday, Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo homered for the Orioles.<\/p>\n

Promoted from Triple-A Memphis before the game, Vel\u00e1zquez hit the first pitch he saw over the left field fence to tie the game 3-3. It was his first game in the majors since June 23, 2024, when he played with Kansas City. He was 0-for-6 in 2023 in games against the Cubs, a team he played for in 2022-23.<\/p>\n
St. Louis snapped a four-game losing streak. The Cubs entered the game winning their last two after losing their previous 10 games.<\/p>\n
