Jam Press\/@ramenka__busan<\/p>\n<p>In the footage, the team is seen pulling in the line with the gargantuan gastropod hanging on, causing bystanders to shriek in surprise like something out of a sci-fi thriller.<\/p>\n<p>The peculiar quarry made waves online with one viewer likening it to \u201cwhale vomit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat looks nasty and slimy. Barf,\u201d exclaimed another, while a third wrote, \u201cWTF is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The creature was released unharmed into the deep. Jam Press\/@ramenka__busan<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou just KNOW they\u2019re gonna eat it!\u201d fretted another.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, the sea slug was released unharmed to the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>The species of slug is unclear, although many guessed it was type a of sea hare, a species of marine snail with an internal shell that resides in shallow water and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildlifetrusts.org\/wildlife-explorer\/marine\/sea-snails-and-sea-slugs\/sea-hare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">feeds on seaweed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The largest of the species \u2014 and largest gastropod on Earth \u2014 is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/world-records\/469386-largest-sea-slug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">California black sea hare<\/a>, which has been known to grow over 3 feet long and weigh almost 30 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Martian-looking denizens of the deep, a Russian fisherman made a splash in February after sharing footage of a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/26\/lifestyle\/fisherman-horrified-after-catching-baffling-alien-animal-from-the-ocean-depths\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">bizarre, bulbous sea creature<\/a> that viewers have compared to an \u201calien.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lovecraftian critter was identified as a smooth lumpsucker, a species of marine ray-finned fish that grows to over a foot long and resides in the depths.<\/p>\n<p>Beachcombers in Oregon were freaked out in May after stumbling<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/01\/us-news\/prehistoric-looking-fish-washes-ashore-on-oregon-beach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> across a toothsome sea monster <\/a>known as a Longnose Lancetfish due to its spearlike body.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It was the belle of the slime-ball.
