The Minnesota Twins<\/a> have designated struggling pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson<\/a> for assignment, it was announced Saturday.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old has a 7.74 ERA in 12 appearances this season split between the rotation and the bullpen, but was solid the two seasons before pitching as a starter.<\/p>\n

Woods Richardson made a combined 51 appearances in 2024 and 2025 — 50 of them starts — and had a 4.11 ERA with 224 strikeouts in 245.0 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Woods Richardson was drafted by the New York Mets<\/a> in the second round in 2018 and was later acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> a year later in a deal involving Marcus Stroman<\/a>. The Jays then traded Woods Richardson, along with Austin Martin<\/a>, to the Twins in a deal involving Jose Berrios<\/a>.<\/p>\n
