Sky Sports Golf analyst Rob Lee criticised Hideki Matsuyama for distracting Robert MacIntyre while the Scot was lining up a putt during the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on the 14th green at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, as MacIntyre<\/a> prepared to attempt a 12-foot par putt.<\/p>\n

While MacIntyre was reading his putt using AimPoint, Matsuyama <\/a>was simultaneously working on his own read for a seven-foot birdie effort from the opposite side of the hole.<\/p>\n

The situation drew criticism from Lee, a two-time European Tour winner, as well as on-course commentator and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem.<\/p>\n

“If it’s my turn to putt then get out of the way,” said an irate Lee in the commentary box.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Matsuyama is doing his paddling on the green there while Robert [MacIntyre] is trying to work out what he’s trying to do, like it’s not your go, just go away.”<\/p>\n

Beem agreed with Lee’s assessment, adding: “Yeah, just get out of my eyeline, I just don’t want to see him moving around.”<\/p>\n

Neither player was able to hole their putt. MacIntyre, who is using a brand new putter<\/a> this week, made bogey, while Matsuyama settled for par.<\/p>\n

Matsuyama was criticised for being in the way<\/p>\n

Despite the criticism, Lee was quick to praise Matsuyama just one hole later after the Japanese star produced a remarkable recovery at the par-4 15th.<\/p>\n

After missing the green with his approach, Matsuyama faced an awkward stance near a greenside bunker and opted to play a one-handed chip shot.<\/p>\n

“That is outrageous what he’s just done there, utterly outrageous,” said Lee as Matsuyama chipped to four feet before converting the par save.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Matsuyama continued his strong play throughout the round, signing for a five-under-65 to move one shot off the pace at nine-under par.<\/p>\n

MacIntyre carded a second consecutive 68 to reach four-under par heading into the weekend.<\/p>\n

Smith matched Matsuyama’s round of 65 to surge into the outright lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the halfway cut falling at three-under par though, the tournament remains tightly packed heading into the weekend at Colonial.<\/p>\n
