THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Jason Franson &#8211; The Canadian Press  \u00b7 The Canadian Press    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">EDMONTON \u2014 A company helping build Edmonton\u2019s light-rapid-transit line has been fined after one of its workers was seriously hurt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Marigold Infrastructure Partners pleaded guilty to one count under health and safety rules for failing to properly keep equipment safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The company was fined $120,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The Alberta government says 13 other counts were withdrawn, as well as charges against two other related entities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The province says workers were completing post-tensioning of a segment of the Edmonton Valley West Line project on June 23, 2023, when a worker was struck by equipment and seriously injured<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">It says as one of the jacks pressured up, the concrete crumbled, causing the tensioning bar and jack to strike the worker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">This report by The Canadian Press was first published May 29, 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The Canadian Press<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"People board the LRT at the Century Park LRT station in Edmonton, on Friday, February 26, 2021.
