{"id":705522,"date":"2026-05-31T09:17:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T09:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/705522\/"},"modified":"2026-05-31T09:17:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T09:17:16","slug":"update-one-killed-child-critically-injured-in-highway-15-collision-involving-ambulance-the-brockvilleist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/705522\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: One killed, child critically injured in Highway 15 collision involving ambulance &#8211; The Brockvilleist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/708312053_2791866601151784_8185305294790833685_n-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15841\"  \/>Emergency services on scene of a serious collision in Lombardy on Friday, May 29. \u2013 Cris Vilela\/Brockvilleist<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate a fatal three-vehicle collision on Highway 15 in Lombardy that claimed the life of one man and left several others injured, including two paramedics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emergency crews responded to the collision between County Road 1 and County Road 5, near Otter Lake Park, at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, May 29.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say on Saturday, May 30 that the crash involved two passenger vehicles and an ambulance that was returning to base with no patients onboard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver of one of the vehicles, a 34-year-old man from Elizabethtown-Kitley, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A young child who was travelling in the same vehicle was airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver and passenger of the ambulance were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an update issued Saturday, Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service said both paramedics were transported to The Ottawa Hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe two paramedics involved were transported to The Ottawa Hospital \u2013 Civic Campus, where they were treated for their injuries and have since been released,\u201d the service said in a media release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver and sole occupant of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries and was also transported to hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service says it is working closely with partner agencies as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs this process is ongoing, we will not be providing further details at this time,\u201d the service said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe extend our sincere thanks to all emergency responders who attended the scene for their professionalism and care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur thoughts are with everyone involved and all those affected by this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leeds Thousand Islands Fire Service, Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service and OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highway 15 was closed for several hours following the collision but reopened Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigation remains ongoing.
