{"id":706899,"date":"2026-06-01T01:57:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T01:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/706899\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T01:57:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T01:57:09","slug":"stampeders-re-sign-all-star-dl-jaylon-hutchings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/706899\/","title":{"rendered":"Stampeders re-sign all-star DL Jaylon Hutchings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Calgary Stampeders are getting a huge piece of their defence back just ahead of the season opener.<\/p>\n<p>Defensive lineman Jaylon Hutchings has signed a three-year deal with the club, the Stampeders <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/calstampeders\/status\/2061189705518272911\" rel=\"nofollow\">announced<\/a> Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchings, 26, signed a reserve\/futures contract with the Minnesota Vikings in January, but was waived by the NFL club in April.<\/p>\n<p>The six-foot, 300-pound Texas Tech product was a CFL all-star last season in his first full year in the league.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, he started 17 games and had 39 defensive tackles, including three tackles for loss, eight sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and two knockdowns. Hutchings also had a pair of sacks and a touchdown in a West semifinal loss to the B.C. Lions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to have Hutch back,\u201d Stampeders general manager\/head coach Dave Dickenson said in a statement. \u201cFor him to make a three-year commitment to us is a huge deal.
