The last time Tatsuya Imai<\/a> made a start, his Houston Astros pitched MLB\u2019s first no-hitter since 2024<\/a>. But Sunday was Jacob Misiorowski<\/a>\u2019s time to shine \u2014 again.<\/p>\n

The Brewers<\/a>\u2019 starter outdueled Imai with seven shoutout innings to lead Milwaukee<\/a> to a 2-0 win over Imai\u2019s Astros<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The scoreless outing was the fifth in six May starts for the second-year flamethrower, who finished the month having allowed just one run in 38 1\/3 innings. Misiorowski\u2019s shutout lowered his ERA to 1.65 and keeps him near the top of the early-season Cy Young race in the National League.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s effort didn\u2019t come without pressure. The Astros loaded the bases in the third inning with singles by Jake Meyers<\/a> and Jeremy Pe\u00f1a<\/a>, and a two-out hit-by-pitch of Yordan Alvarez<\/a> on a curve ball that clipped his back foot.<\/p>\n

But Misiorowski induced an inning-ending groundout with a 1-0 fastball to Christian Walker<\/a> that eclipsed 102 mph.<\/p>\n

Then in the fourth inning, Isaac Paredes<\/a> doubled with one out for the first extra-base hits off Misiorowski in seven starts<\/a>. Paredes reached third on a groundout but was stranded when Meyers flied out for the third out of the inning.<\/p>\n

From there, Misiorowski was flawless with three perfect innings to conclude his start. He finished the day having allowed 3 hits and 0 walks with 8 strikeouts in 7 innings. He did so via a tidy 88 pitches, 54 of which were strikes.<\/p>\n

He was still throwing 102 mph when he recorded his final strikeout in the sixth inning.<\/p>\n

With Sunday\u2019s start, Misiorowski finishes May<\/a> with 57 strikeouts, six walks and just 1 earned run allowed in 38.1 innings. He was credited with a win in five of his six May starts, including Sunday. The Brewers are 35-21 with a 4.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs<\/a> for first place in the NL Central.<\/p>\n

Imai follows up no-hit start with solid outing in loss<\/p>\n

The outing spoiled a second straight standout start for Imai, who allowed two runs in six innings while tallying the highest pitch count (110) of his brief MLB career. In his previous start, Imai threw six no-hit innings in a combined 9-0 no-hitter against the Texas Rangers<\/a> completed by relievers Steven Okert<\/a> and Alimber Santa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, David Hamilton<\/a> got the first hit off Imai in the third inning. Then Jake Bauers<\/a> broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run off Imai in the fourth.<\/p>\n
