SD Worx-Protime decided to send Wiebes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/how-is-lorena-wiebes-after-giro-ditalia-women-dq-and-where-is-she-now-sd-worx-protime-team-boss-explains\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">home from the race<\/a> rather than contest the decision immediately.The team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/astonished-sd-worx-protime-issues-statement-after-wiebes-dsq-in-giro-serious-questions-over-procedures\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">issued a statement immediately after the disqualification<\/a>. \u201cSD Worx \u2013 Protime is astonished by the decision of the UCI jury panel that Lorena Wiebes\u2019 bike did not meet the minimum weight limit after the first stage of the Giro d\u2019Italia Women, in accordance with UCI article 2.12.007\u20132.2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the jury, the bike weighed 6.78 kilograms and therefore did not meet the UCI minimum weight requirement of 6.8 kilograms.
