The proposal for 580 Hazelhurst Road, located off Southdown Road in Clarkson, seeks to establish a specialized wood recovery and recycling operation. According to city planning documents, the facility would collect, sort, and process non-hazardous wood waste generated primarily from construction and demolition sites, turning raw debris into reusable material.<\/p>\n
To address community and environmental safeguards, the City of Mississauga is implementing strict site-specific zoning amendments. The revised regulations mandate that all sorting, processing, and storage of the wood waste take place entirely within an enclosed building. This indoor-only restriction is designed to mitigate common industrial nuisances such as dust, debris scatter, and noise.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the city has explicitly prohibited the handling of putrescible waste \u2014 organic matter that rots and causes foul odours \u2014 as well as hazardous or toxic materials.
