1 dead, multiple shots fired in Surrey<\/p>\n

One man is dead after a late night shots fired incident in Surrey.<\/p>\n
Surrey Police Service (SPS) reports that officers responded to calls of a shooting in the area of 138 St and 62 Ave in South Newton at 12:22 a.m. on May 31.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, SPS says that officers located one man in a vehicle that had hit a series of other vehicles as well as a power pole and was suffering from gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
A freelance reporter for Black Press Media reports that the hitting of the power pole caused a small power outage in the area.<\/p>\n
He also states that BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) and Surrey Fire were also on scene with SPS.<\/p>\n
SPS says officers provided medical assistance to the shot individual until BCEHS arrived. Despite life saving efforts by police and paramedics, the man was pronounced dead on scene.<\/p>\n
No arrests have been made and SPS says that at this early stage there is no suspect information to be shared.<\/p>\n
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the investigation and is being supported by SPS to complete priority investigative tasks.<\/p>\n
