I know how to stop swimmers using the wildlife ponds on Hampstead Heath (Report, 27 May<\/a>). Erect a picture of all the enormous crayfish \u2013 an invasive species \u2013 now inhabiting many of the ponds, particularly the one pictured. I certainly wouldn\u2019t want to be swimming with them snapping at my toes.

It seems the colonial attitudes seen in Brian Friel\u2019s great play Translations<\/a> are alive and well in modern Britain. Last week, my sister was told by the British Passport Office to change her name from the Greek spelling, Paraskou, to Paraskos if she wants a passport.
