{"id":709108,"date":"2026-06-02T02:38:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T02:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/709108\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T02:38:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T02:38:13","slug":"mclaren-celebrates-1000-f1-races-with-new-road-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/709108\/","title":{"rendered":"McLaren celebrates 1000 F1 races with new road car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren\u2019s first Formula 1 race as a team occurred at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix, where owner\/driver Bruce McLaren managed just nine laps before retiring.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t deter the Kiwi, who kept growing the constructor until his untimely death in 1970, after which it was taken over and turned into the powerhouse we now know.<\/p>\n<p>Almost 60 years to the week since McLaren\u2019s debut, the team has gone on to win 10 Constructors\u2019 Championships, and 13 Drivers\u2019 titles, the most recent of which both came in 2025.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-698490\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/mclaren-artura-1000gp-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1980\" height=\"1320\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Now it is on the verge of a new milestone, with this weekend\u2019s Monaco Grand Prix set to become McLaren\u2019s 1000th Formula 1 race start, and its road car division is celebrating by releasing a limited edition version of the Artura.<\/p>\n<p>Called the McLaren Artura 1000GP by MSO (McLaren Special Operations), just 10 examples of the car will be made, all of which feature a bespoke papaya-on-black livery, covering the bonnet, lower body sides and mirror caps.<\/p>\n<p>Contrasted by pinstriping on the front splitter and rear diffuser, the design changes are subtle, while adopting the current number font of current McLaren F1 drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-698489\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/mclaren-artura-1000gp-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1980\" height=\"1320\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Inside McLaren has added a numbered plaque in a bespoke metallic papaya colour, linking back to the hue of its early and current years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRacing and road cars have always been shaped by the same mindset at McLaren, and the McLaren Artura 1000GP by MSO celebrates that shared foundation,\u201d said McLaren Group CEO, Nick Collins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt reflects the environment Bruce created \u2013- an environment built on collective ambition, engineering excellence and a unified approach to progress.
