The Minnesota Lynx<\/a> aimed for their fifth straight win as they visited the Phoenix Mercury<\/a> at Mortgage Matchup Center on Monday. The Mercury, on the other hand, have lost five straight games.<\/p>\n

The Lynx are coming off a victory<\/a> against the Chicago Sky<\/a>, 79-58, at Wintrust Arena on Friday, notching their fourth consecutive victory on the road.<\/p>\n

Minnesota started like a house on fire against Phoenix, scoring 35 points in the first quarter, led by Courtney Williams and Olivia Miles<\/a>. The Lynx continued to pour it on in the next frame, outscoring the Mercury, 32-18, to break the game wide open. They led at halftime, 67-40.<\/p>\n

Minnesota achieved a milestone with its dominant showing<\/a> in the first half, according to ESPN\u2019s Alexa Philippou.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lynx\u2019s 67 points in the first half versus the Mercury are tied for the third-most in any half of a road game in WNBA history,\u201d wrote Philippou on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinnesota also shot 75% in the first half, the best by any team in a half this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lynx are on a mission to avenge themselves after getting upset by the Mercury in the semifinals, 3-1, in last season\u2019s playoffs despite being the top seed.<\/p>\n

They have played well without Napheesa Collier<\/a>, who has yet to play this year due to an ankle injury. Initial reports said the three-time All-WNBA First Team member could return to action this month.<\/p>\n

As of writing, Minnesota still has a sizable lead against Phoenix in the fourth quarter. Williams has 28 points and four rebounds, while Miles has 19 points, four rebounds, nine assists, and three steals.<\/p>\n
