Springer \u2014 playing his first game since he was hit on the head by a pitch on July 28 \u2014 walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs in three plate appearances as a designated hitter for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.<\/p>\n
“Good day,” Springer told reporters after the rehab game. “I’m excited about it.”<\/p>\n
After flying out to right field in his first at-bat, Springer had much more success in his second two times up against the Philadelphia Phillies’ top farm club.<\/p>\n
After his walk, Springer went first to third on a base hit, sliding into third base.<\/p>\n
“That’s my style of game,” he said. “I got told if I got a chance to do it, I need to make sure to do it. I felt good about it.”<\/p>\n
Springer then worked his way to another full count before lacing a double into left with an exit velocity of 105.8 m.p.h.<\/p>\n
The Blue Jays planned to have Springer DH on Thursday and then play the outfield on Friday for Buffalo.<\/p>\n
“We’re going to see what they say,” he said. “I’m just going to do what I’m told.
