Hundreds of colourful kites are expected to fill the skies over Greenbriar Park South this weekend as Brampton KiteFest returns for its 12th year of family-friendly fun.<\/p>\n
The free two-day event will take place June 6 and 7 from noon to 6 p.m. each day at Greenbriar Park South, located at 1100 Central Park Dr.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the festival is designed to celebrate the joy of kite flying while bringing families outdoors to enjoy fresh air, recreation and community connections. Visitors can watch professional kite flyers perform choreographed aerial displays, see giant artistic kites, and take part in a variety of activities aimed at children and families.<\/p>\n
One of the festival\u2019s main attractions is the opportunity for children to learn how to build and fly their own kites while discovering some of the science behind how they work. Kite-building kits will be available for purchase, and attendees are also welcome to bring their own kites to fly.<\/p>\n
In addition to the airborne entertainment, the event will feature food trucks, artisan vendors and community organizations offering activities throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n
Organizers describe the festival as a chance for parents and grandparents to reconnect with their childhood while introducing a new generation to the simple pleasure of flying a kite.<\/p>\n
Admission is free for all ages.<\/p>\n
Visitors should note that there is no on-site parking available. Event parking has been arranged at Holy Name of Mary Catholic School on Glenvale Boulevard.<\/p>\n
While guests may bring their own kites and outside food, kite-fighting kites and cutting lines are prohibited. Barbecues and cooking equipment are also not permitted.<\/p>\n
The festival will proceed rain or shine.<\/p>\n
Organizers say they are hoping to once again transform Brampton\u2019s skyline into a colourful display of soaring kites and community spirit, creating lasting memories for families throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n
