Changes to Brampton bylaws include doubling the fee for late parking payments, and increased fines for screening no-shows.<\/p>\n
The changes were approved by a committee of Brampton City Council on Wednesday and still need final approval, but will see late payment fees for parking fines doubled from $15 to $30.<\/p>\n
Other changes to parking-related bylaw fees include screening non-appearance fees going up from $50 to $60, while Ministry of Transportation Ontario search fees are down from $15 to $10.<\/p>\n

Changes to Brampton\u2019s administrative penalties late last year saw fine increases for blocking a driveway, snow clearing interference, parking over a curb or sidewalk<\/a>, and parking within three metres of a sidewalk, among other infractions.<\/p>\n Parking in front of a driveway comes with a fine of $100 for the first offence, doubling to $200 for the second and increasing to $300 for every following infraction.<\/p>\n Council also approved escalating fines under the Residential Rental Licensing program bylaw, upping the maximum fine for an illegal unit from $1,200 to $1,500.
