Canadian Tire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tDescrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tIncrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>A new study out of York University is highlighting concerns about Indigenous racial profiling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755073388_375_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The study is called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.strongascedar.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Signed-Expert-Report-on-Indigenous-Consumer-Racial-Profiling.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Indigenous Consumer Racial Profiling in Canada: A Neglected Human Rights Issue<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Its co-author says discrimination in retail environments is commonplace.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Les Jacobs told Global News it\u2019s \u201ca daily, everyday experience, that they are in consumer interactions, whether they\u2019re shopping, whether they\u2019re going into a bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jacobs noted an incident in 2020 at a Canadian Tire in Coquitlam. Richard Wilson and his daughter Dawn were buying tires and getting an oil change.
