Police have suspended a truck driver from Caledon and charged a Brampton company after a traffic stop in northeastern Ontario.<\/p>\n
The incident happened back on May 6, when the OPP says officers with the James Bay detachment stopped a truck in Cochrane, approximately 105 kilometres northeast of Timmins.<\/p>\n
Police stopped the truck \u201cafter observing equipment deficiencies and driving-related concerns,\u201d and said the driver had consumed alcohol.<\/p>\n
A breath test found the driver\u2019s blood alcohol concentration was above zero, and the 45-year-old driver from Caledon was charged with drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or drawn vehicle, fail to enter defect in daily inspection report, and improper number plate light.<\/p>\n
A Brampton-based company was also charged with fail to ensure performance standards are met, and fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly.<\/p>\n
The driver was also hit with a three-day license suspension, police say.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder Ontario law, commercial motor vehicle drivers are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol,\u201d the OPP says.<\/p>\n
