<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/housing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">housing<\/a> development in <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/north-vancouver\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Vancouver<\/a> has been rejected for its size and its parking plan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Seymour River Place in the Maplewood Village neighbourhood would bring 40 apartments to the area, including seven below-market rental units.<\/p>\n<p>However, district staff say the project exceeds current planning policies.<\/p>\n<p>The site is zoned for four storeys, but the proposal calls for six storeys and the developer is also proposing 26 parking stalls, which is well below the 74 spaces required under existing bylaws.<\/p>\n<p>The district says that could cause congestion on neighbouring streets as people struggle to find what we\u2019ve found in the past is they\u2019re just going to put their cars throughout the neighbourhood rather than pay a high monthly rate to park their car in the area,\u201d Mike Little, units by at least $50,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when we\u2019re talking about the need for more affordable housing, we should not be encouraging people to buy cars and buy parking spaces,\u201d Michael Geller, a Seymour River Place planning consultant, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspecially when you do have excellent public transit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The developer is now revising its proposal and
