They wanted to raise money to help defray costs so families that had children with disabilities, could send their kids to camp. Brenden, who has cerebral palsy, attended the camp for several years and noticed he was seeing less and less of his friends returning. That’s when he found out the cost to go to the camp was increasing and that some families couldn’t afford it. So his idea was to raise funds so those families could send their kids to camp each year.

Brenden’s Ride ran for six straight years until it’s COVID-caused cancellation in 2020. Organizes are billing this year’s event as the 7th annual. Sadly, in 2025, Baron–a former NHL linesman–passed away.

McNaughton, who is on the board of directors for Brenden’s Ride, told the Cloverdale Reporter restarting the ride this year is very emotional without Baron.

“It’s going to be tough on everybody because he and Brenden worked their butts off every year for this,” she said. “It was one of their big loves and one of their big things to do together. So it’s definitely going to be bittersweet, but everyone’s going to ride in honor of Baron and raise money for what Brenden loves to do.”

This year the re-started ride is set for July 18. It will leave Rusty’s pub in Clover Square Village and head to Easter Seals Camp Squamish in Brackendale.

The ride kicks off at 8 a.m. with breakfast at Rusty’s Pub. Once riders get to Easter Seals Camp they’ll have lunch there with a live band, silent auction, 50/50 draw, and more.

McNaughton said anyone is welcome to join the ride. People can register through the website brendensride.ca. Cost to register is $40.

She added that all the registration money, along with all the money raised through the silent auction, the 50/50, and via donations, will go to “help get kids to camp.”

McNaughton noted they’re looking for corporate sponsorships too. Potential sponsors can also reach out via the website, social channels, email, or phone.

For more info, or to donate funds, visit brendensride.ca, email brendensride@gmail.com, call 604-910-1180, or visit Facebook.com/brendensride.

Surrey charity motorcycle ride to return after multi-year hiatus Published 11:00 pm Thursday, June 4, 2026 After a…

[194299
49,48,163792,87674
post-716528","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-lower-mainland","tag-surrey
["GET
