{"id":717372,"date":"2026-06-05T18:56:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T18:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/717372\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T18:56:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T18:56:13","slug":"thunderstorms-in-vancouver-forecast-as-juneuary-rain-creeps-in-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/717372\/","title":{"rendered":"Thunderstorms in Vancouver forecast as &#8216;Juneuary&#8217; rain creeps in | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may want to bundle up to start your weekend adventures, because a thunderstorm is brewing in the forecast and it could hit Vancouver on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is calling for a risk of a thunderstorm to start in the late afternoon of June 5 and continue into the evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to Colin Fong, ECCC meteorologist, the turbulent weather is part of the Metro Vancouver region\u2019s transition out of spring into summer.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"vancouver weather\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"529\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1956337\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/rain-vancouver-weather-1024x529.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-1956337\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">LeonWang\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAtmospheric flow becomes more wavy,\u201d explained Fong to Daily Hive. \u201cA cold low, think of it as a pocket of cooler air, drifts over the B.C. region and brings unsettled conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s typical in this time of year, colloquially called Juneuary, and that\u2019s why we have slightly cooler conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though the temperatures will only reach 16\u00b0C for the last day of the work week, with a 60 per cent chance of showers, you may want to keep some sunscreen nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Friday\u2019s UV index is set to reach 5, or moderate, on both Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The chilliest overnight low for the next seven days is also slated to happen on Friday into Saturday, dipping down into single digits at 9\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>There is a break in the clouds on Sunday, June 7, with sun peeking in and temperatures increasing to 18\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>However, it may be the last rays we see for a while, as the new week calls for a high chance of rain and clouds from Monday until at least Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Vancouver weather\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"397\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2279710\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Vancouver-weather-1-1024x397.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2279710\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ECCC<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext week is a near-exact situation\u201d added Fong. There\u2019s going to be a brief break on Sunday when things will stabilize.
