{"id":717855,"date":"2026-06-05T23:52:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T23:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/717855\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T23:52:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T23:52:11","slug":"b-c-adds-25000-jobs-in-may-but-still-falling-behind-canada-as-a-whole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/717855\/","title":{"rendered":"B.C. adds 25,000 jobs in May, but still falling behind Canada as a whole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              B.C. adds 25,000 jobs in May, but still falling behind Canada as a whole<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 3:30 pm Friday, June 5, 2026<\/p>\n<p>B.C. rode a Canadawide jobs wave in May, adding 25,000 for the month as part of the 88,000 added across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s unemployment rate dropped to 0.3 points to 6.6 percent, while B.C.\u2019s rate remained steady at 6.8 per cent due to an increased number of people in the labour pool.<\/p>\n<p>Jobs Minister Ravi Kahlon says the numbers show a \u201csignificant uptake\u201d in full-time jobs, and an \u201cobvious, clear opportunity\u201d for work in B.C.<\/p>\n<p>This is also the message he heard from members of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce earlier in the week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve heard from many of them that they still have employers that are looking for people,\u201d Kahlon said.<\/p>\n<p>B.C.
